SWLA offers extensive experience in service and collaboration with developers, public agencies, homeowners and community associations acquired over multiple decades in both private and public sector projects. Project experience scale has ranged from transportation and community development projects to smaller commercial and residential single family landscape planning and improvements. 

SWLA is knowledgeable and sensitive in working with clients, within budgets of time and money, and projects that may span several years in design and construction development. SWLA is adept in developing and working with budgets of design and construction costs ranging from hundreds of dollars into multi-millions. SWLA is experienced in landscape design and development analysis of new and existing improvements including: demolition and salvage, earth shaping and grading and drainage, the use of concrete, masonry and wood, irrigation and water management, lighting design, planting and horticulture including maintenance and management practices.

Career Experience 

Sam Wade began his professional training in 1983 at Peridian Group in Irvine, California, where he worked hands-on with projects owned by The Irvine Company, The Marriott Corporation, W.B. Johnson / Ritz Carlton, Leisure Technologies, Trammell Crow and many other long standing clients enjoyed by the firm.

Established in 1996 Sam Wade Landscape Architect (SWLA) is a full service landscape architecture practice providing design, consultation and field services. Licensed in California and Arizona, practice emphasis is on providing quality development solutions for commercial, multi-family and residential projects. SWLA is highly experienced in development of design solutions, construction documents including bid documents, project administration, processing and obtaining necessary municipal and agency approvals for both landscape construction permitting and final completion.

SWLA is also experienced in municipal code enforcement and compliance resolution. 

Major projects that entailed Sam's design and management responsibilities included the Eastern Transportation Corridor Toll Road, SR-91 Widening, I-5/ 405 Confluence @ Irvine / El Toro,  Tustin Ranch Road and scenic Newport Coast Drive. 

Environmental mitigation projects became an integral part of the urban development process with local, state and federal requirements and considerations, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA),  becoming typical to many land development projects. Sam managed and participated in environmental mitigation project's including the Bonita Canyon Wetland creation and the Pelican Hill Road Turkish Rugging Relocation program, a source, salvage and relocation of a rare and often unseen native Southern California coastal plant.

Sam Wade continues to utilize the same primary skill sets and knowledge acquired during his formative professional career.

In 1986 Sam joined Eriksson-Peters-Thoms in San Juan Capistrano, California. Shortly thereafter Sam was assigned with ever increasing responsibilities with emphasis of project management and Client relations. Process in particular became a fundamental of working with the firm's long time client, The Irvine Company, in community development design of the Irvine Ranch and its individual Community Development portfolio groups including Irvine / Westpark, Tustin Ranch and Newport Coast.  

Circumstances of regional and community growth afforded opportunities  for Sam to participate in the design and construction phases of transportation projects with regional, state and federal agencies including County of Orange, TCA, OCTA, CalTrans and GSA along with interface of regional municipalities including the  Cities of Irvine, Newport Beach, Orange and Tustin.
